CCHA Holds Successful Resident Advocacy Day
Physician residents and fellows from all eight of CCHA’s member hospitals participated in Resident Advocacy Day in Sacramento on March 6, 2024. Residents heard from guest speakers including Assembly Member Mia Bonta (AD 18), Chair of Assembly Health Committee, and Lupe Alonso-Diaz, President and CEO for Physicians for a Healthy California.
During meetings with legislators and staff, residents discussed the importance of fully funding the state's graduate medical education programs, that train physicians to meet California's health care workforce needs, and of increasing reimbursement for Medi-Cal providers to increase access for the states most vulnerable children and families. The event was a huge success, and residents enjoyed learning more about the legislative process as they advocated on behalf of their patients, children’s hospitals, and their profession.
